IRNA - New season of Iran`s football League Cup will begin on October 21.
Out of 113 teams participating in three stages of the league, 54 are the provincial champions, 29 are those competing in the second division competitions, 16 of the first division, and 14 of Iran Pro League.
The first-stage matches are held during the first four weeks during which the qualified sides are decided and clash against the first division teams in the fifth and sixth weeks. Eighteen teams will book berths in the third round and array against the IPL squads.
Zob Ahan of Isfahan was crowned at the last League Cup ending on July 10.
In the first-leg final on July 6, Zob and the Shiraz-based Fajr-e Sepassi fought to a 2-2 draw in Fouladshahr Stadium in Isfahan and their return match also ended 2-2 in the normal and extra time in Hafezieh Stadium, Shiraz.
 
Zob celebrated the League Cup title as it converted seven penalties and the host Fajr missed one out of seven. Zob won the two-legged final 11-10 on aggregate.
 
League Cup winner Zob Ahan and Iran Pro League titlist Sepahan, both from Isfahan, will represent the country in the Asian Club Championships.
